In The Defense of Guilt

Description In Defense of Guilt by Benjamin H. Berkley

Representing a man accused of throwing his wife overboard, chic attorney Lauren Hill begins to artfully present her case. But when Judge Howell seems to morph into God, Lauren’s life of infidelity, poor parenthood, and self-absorption is questioned by the Almighty, who charges Lauren with committing the seven deadly sins. But is this real or fantasy? Is Lauren on the edge of a nervous breakdown, or is God presiding and ultimately deciding Lauren’s fate? In Defense of Guilt is a gripping story of self-discovery, justice, and ultimately about love.

This is a great book for those who love legal thrillers of John Grisham, and Scott Turow.

Praise In Defense of Guilt by Benjamin H. Berkley

“Through edgy protagonist and defense attorney Lauren Hill, Berkley places us in the midst of a murder trial that could itself be the backbone of an exciting legal thriller – but the metaphysical twist that threatens to change the trial into Hill’s own Judgment Day takes In Defense of Guilt to the next level.”-Christopher Leibig, Author, Almost Mortal  (2016 Indie Book Award)

“In Defense or Guilt is a fast-paced legal thriller with a spiritual twist. Benjamin Berkley has crafted a main character who fears no consequences until she goes on trial before the “ultimate arbiter.” She defends her client accused of murder while wrestling with her own demons of infidelity, greed and lust. Is salvation the light at the end of the tunnel? Well written and highly recommended. Congratulations to my fellow colleague for such a masterful first endeavor.”-Melanie Bragg, Author Crosstown Park, an Alex Stockton legal thriller

“With IN DEFENSE OF GUILT, Mr. Berkley has written a compellingly unconventional courtroom drama. This unique and fascinating story keeps the reader guessing from beginning to end, while offering an inspirational message that extends far beyond the guilt or innocence of the accused. A truly enjoyable read.”-John J. Jessop, Author of Deadly Pleasure  and the Guardian Angel series

About Benjamin BerkleyIn Defense of Guilt by Benjamin H. Berkley

From as far back as he can remember, Benjamin Berkley has been fascinated by the law. Growing up in Long Beach, New York, his daily schedule revolved around grainy black-and-white reruns of Perry Mason who, with the help of Della Street, solved the most complicated crimes imaginable. It was therefore no surprise to his family and friends that Berkley chose law as his career path, now practicing for over forty years.

Description Close Encounters of the Traveling Kind by Amanda Jayne

This collection of near-death (and a few almost-near-death) stories take you on adventures in Africa, South America, Nepal, Japan and Thailand. Close Encounters with an angry snake, the edge of an abyss, an unfriendly African tribe, a fake guide or two, a mean Dutch man, a magic whirlpool, a nasty case of Typhoid and a severe case of mountain stupidity are told with the confidence of a traveler who has discovered that no matter what happens, everything works out in the end.

“A fabulous book that makes you smile all the way through; the stories of Amanda’s adventures and her zest for life flows from the pages and makes you on the one hand, wonder how she has survived and the other embrace her energies. A book that you don’t want to put down and leaves you in a happy place.”- Richard Newey, Amazon Review

About Amanda JayneClose Encounters of the Traveling Kind by Amanda Jayne

Amanda Jayne never wanted to live a normal life, which she has achieved with resounding success so far. She realised books were magic and could take you to other places, times and universes when she was very young and wanted to become an author immediately. However, she waited several decades so she could do other things first.

Her love for travel began with a six month South Africa trip at age 18 and continued with short jaunts in Eastern Europe during the years she worked in the mental health field.

As soon as she realised offices, rules and regulations were not her thing, she left her job and her native England to find out more about the world and the amazing array of people living in it. She spent 10 years living and travelling in various countries and finally returned to the UK in 2009 after gaining a masters in Spiritual Psychology in the USA and walking 1,200 km around the 88 temples pilgrimage in Shikoku, Japan.

These days she teaches Jikiden Reiki, makes websites and writes books. She’s sometimes quite busy. Some of the things she loves are trees, art, being with friends, making up stories for her nephews, karaoke, cats and dark chocolate, not necessarily in that order. She lives in a quiet corner of Kent in the UK and tries, but usually fails, to stay there for long periods of time.

Secluded Village Murders

Description Secluded Village Murders

Written in the style of a classic English Mystery with a contemporary young American woman as the amateur sleuth. Entertaining. Keeps you guessing until the end.

From a small secluded village in Connecticut to the English Countryside, readers are taken on a roller coaster of events and quirky characters as amateur sleuth Emily Ryder tries to solve a murder that everyone thinks was an accident.

For tour guide Emily Ryder, the turning point came on that fatal early morning when her beloved mentor met an untimely death. It’s labeled as an accident and Trooper Dave Roberts is more interested in Emily than in any suspicions over Chris Cooper’s death. For Emily, if Chris hadn’t been the Village Planner and the only man standing in the way of the development of an apartment and entertainment complex in their quaint village of Lydfield, Connecticut, she might have believed it was an accident, but too many pieces didn’t fit.

As Emily heads across the pond for a prescheduled tour of Lydfield’s sister village, Lydfield-in-the-Moor… she discovers that the murderer may be closer than she thought.

Note: This book is a  totally revamped version of “The Twinning Murders” with a different publisher.  It is quite different from ‘The Twinning Murders’.  You should enjoy this book even more!

Praise Twinning Murders by Shelly Frome

“There is a very eclectic cast of characters in this novel and the story reads fast. I enjoyed reading this mystery and I found that I was surprised at the ending. This is a story basically about money and greed.”-Kathleen Kelly, Celticlady Reviews

“Shelly Frome does a great job of creating an interesting murder mystery around a hennas crime committed in a small New England village. He then takes it all the way across “The Pond” to England where he beautifully captured the essence of Dartmoor National Park and the moorlands of Devon. From the village fete to the sudden fog that can devour you upon The Moor, Shelly Frome creates a wonderful atmosphere in which to add intrigue and mystery.
The story twists and turns and creates an interesting confluence of red herrings, doubts and suspicions until the end when you will be, as they say, “Gob smacked!” at who the murderer turns out to be.
This book was fun and scary and full of great characters one of which is a wonderful golden retriever. Twinning Murders will give you a dose of a good old fashion murder mystery with a surprise ending.”- Me Minty, Amazon Review

“Technically The Twinning Murders can be called a cozy as the profanity and violence are extremely minimal, the latter taking place primarily off-stage, and Emily is most definitely an amateur sleuth. Author Shelly Frome has also populated The Twinning Murders, on both sides of the Atlantic, with a wonderfully eccentric cast of characters. Unlike the cozies many readers are probably familiar with, however, The Twinning Murders has a genuine old fashioned, Agatha Christie-Miss Marple, British mystery feel to it, even though the bulk of the action takes place in Connecticut.”-Elizabeth  A. White, elizabethwhite.com

“If you enjoy playing detective, this book was written for you. As you venture along you’ll be entertained by folksy New England characters in contrast to the British blokes who serve up their own style of wit and smarts. Enjoy this reading excursion and see if you can figure
out who done it and why! Well, Shelly Frome has done it again! He has set the scene and pace for an exhilarating chase through England and back to America.”- Herbert Siegel, Amazon Review
