Praise Addicted Child by Richard Capriola

Literary Titan Book Award (Gold) 2020

In this pragmatic and accessible text Rick Capriola has distilled the wisdom he accrued from decades of experience on the frontlines of substance use treatment. He provides a valuable resource to all parents attempting to find their bearings in the often confusing and frightening world of intertwined adolescent psychological and substance use problems.”-Major R. Bradshaw, Ph.D  Department Of Psychiatry, Houston Methodist Hospital

“Rick has written an invaluable tool for parents. The Addicted Child helps parents understand how alcohol and drugs influence their child’s behavior, offers resources to help parents find effective treatment options, and explains which assessments are important for a diagnosis and the professionals that should be involved in making those assessments.”-Jamison Monroe, Founder and Chairman Of Newport Healthcare

Whilst doing research on an upcoming book I stumbled upon this newly released gem. Richard Capriola is a retired addiction counselor who has taken the time to share his extensive experience in this well-written book. The language is easy and the flow of information effortless. The book tackles the shock of parents when they first learn about their children’s drug use disorders and mental health problems, before providing the information necessary to help the parents help their children.
It describes the commonly abused drugs out there (from an US perspective) and highlights the need to look out for process disorders such as eating disorders and self-harm. Finally the book demystifies the principles for adolescent substance abuse treatment and describes available treatment approaches. In my opinion a fantastic book that is targeted towards parents that want to be better informed when it comes to drug abuse and mental health problems of their children. A must-read!”- Stephan Neff, My Steps To Sobriety

“The book hooks you right from the acknowledgment. The author tells a poignant story describing why he decided to write this book and goes on to share stories of parents who were surprised by underlying mental illnesses. This personal touch gives the book a human quality that puts the rest of the information into perspective. Any parent would benefit from this book.”-Literary Titan

The Desire Factor

Description Desire Factor by Christy Whitman

There is no limit to the amount of happiness that we, as human beings, can experience. There is no limit to how much love, laughter, excitement, or satisfaction we can feel. This universe is unendingly abundant, which means that it has the ability to yield to us whatever experiences we desire. Why, then, do some people manifest their desires so fluidly and naturally, while others are living lives of struggle, mediocrity, or quiet desperation?

Hard work alone does not guarantee a positive result.  In fact, pushing forward with determination and effort when things are not going as planned usually only makes a bad situation worse.  Energy – not action – is the source of all manifested things, and The Desire Factor is the definitive guide to achieving energy mastery.

The Desire Factor provides one of the most current, comprehensive, and easy to apply explorations into the realm of energy, and shows readers how – by purposefully calibrating the energetic frequency of their dominant thoughts, moods and expectations – they can bring any desire into physical form.

The book is built around 7 universal principles, each of which assists readers in connecting with and deliberately harnessing the divine energy stream that sources all things. These are:

  • The Principle of Alignment
  • The Principle of Focus
  • The Principle of Joyful Expectancy
  • The Principle of Having
  • The Principle of Loving
  • The Principle of Surrender
  • The Principle of Action

Each principle builds upon the last one, and together, they provide a clear path – not just toward the manifestation of objects, experiences and conditions you desire to create in each important area of your life – but toward the personal evolution your desires are guiding you to embrace.

Advance Praise Desire Factor by Christy Whitman

The Desire Factor is a testament to the success principles I’ve been living and teaching for more than forty years. Whether we experience happiness or unhappiness, success or failure depends on what we, ourselves, believe we are deserving of. What we think about, talk about, feel strongly about, and act on, we attract into our lives. In this book, my friend Christy Whitman lays out a reliable road map for how to do all of the above on purpose.”-Jack Canfield, coauthor of the #1 New York Times bestselling Chicken Soup for the Soul® series and The Success Principles™, and a featured teacher in The Secret

“In The Desire Factor, Christy Whitman has pulled back the curtain and revealed how successful people fulfill their desires. Well-written, with engaging, easy-to-relate-to stories, this book will guide you to a completely new understanding of what fulfilling desires means and why you have the desires you have. This is one of those books to put on your must-read list.”-Chris Attwood, New York Times bestselling author of The Passion Test and Your Hidden Riches

“As a TM meditator of almost forty years, I’ve often felt profoundly connected to our collective quantum soup. Christy Whitman’s The Desire Factor beautifully makes the case that desire not only doesn’t deserve its bad rap (thanks a lot, Adam and Eve), but it’s actually one of the soup’s most transformational ingredients.”-Tom Bergeron, TV host and soup resident

The Desire Factor is a handbook that teaches you how to manifest any desire, big or small. Christy reveals the art and science of creating fulfillment and empowerment in every aspect of your life. Bravo, Christy, for sharing these important principles.”-Cynthia Kersey, bestselling author of Unstoppable, founder & CEO of Unstoppable Foundation

A Child Lost

Description Child Lost by Michelle Cox

A spiritualist, an insane asylum, a lost little girl . . .

When Clive, anxious to distract a depressed Henrietta, begs Sergeant Frank Davis for a case, he is assigned to investigating a seemingly boring affair: a spiritualist woman operating in an abandoned schoolhouse on the edge of town who is suspected of robbing people of their valuables. What begins as an open and shut case becomes more complicated, however, when Henrietta—much to Clive’s dismay—begins to believe the spiritualist’s strange ramblings.

Meanwhile, Elsie implores Clive and Henrietta to help her and the object of her budding love, Gunther, locate the whereabouts of one Liesel Klinkhammer, the German woman Gunther has traveled to America to find and the mother of the little girl, Anna, whom he has brought along with him. The search leads them to Dunning Asylum, where they discover some terrible truths about Liesel. When the child, Anna, is herself mistakenly admitted to the asylum after an epileptic fit, Clive and Henrietta return to Dunning to retrieve her. This time, however, Henrietta begins to suspect that something darker may be happening. When Clive doesn’t believe her, she decides to take matters into her own hands . . . with horrifying results.

About Michelle CoxChild Lost by Michelle Cox

Michelle Cox is the author of the multiple award-winning Henrietta and Inspector Howard series as well as Novel Notes of Local Lore, a weekly blog dedicated to Chicago’s forgotten residents. She suspects she may have once lived in the 1930s and, having yet to discover a handy time machine lying around, has resorted to writing about the era as a way of getting herself back there. (Her books have been praised by Kirkus, Library Journal, Publishers Weekly, Booklist, and many others, so she might be on to something.)

Unbeknownst to most, Cox hoards board games she doesn’t have time to play and is, not surprisingly, addicted to period dramas and big band music. Also, marmalade.

Cleo Can Tie a Bow

Description Cleo Can Tie A Bow by Sybrina Durant

Cleo loves bows. She wears her hair in a bow and decorates her room with bows. Cleo is bow crazy.

Learning to tie a bow is very difficult for some people but Cleo remembers how to do it from a cute story she once heard. It is about a little rabbit with very long ears and a very helpful fox who shows her what to do to keep them clean. This is the story of how Cleo learns to tie a “bunny ear” bow.

“Teach a child a useful skill. Build confidence and self-esteem that lasts a lifetime.” This fun picture book is intended to be a family bonding parent-child activity. It’s a great way to learn to tie shoe laces.

Praise Cleo Can Tie A Bow by Sybrina Durant

“exceptionally fine illustrations by Pumudi Gardiyawasam that enhance.. Using the principles of that story, page by page the instructions for tying a bow are shared as a teaching lesson for children.. This is a clever idea for interactive learning and hopefully the author and illustrator will take on other tasks the entire family can enjoy.”-Grady Harp, Amazon Hall of Fame, Top 50 Reviewer

“This is a cute story that any child would love.  It’s an engaging story that will be read over and over again in our home, and passed on through generations.
The illustrations are, it’s my daughter’s current favorite bed time story. I’d recommend as a gift to any child or as a part of an educator’s book shelf.”-Marie, Amazon

“This is a great resource to introduce young children to the bow-tying activity, one of Montessori’s practical life lessons to develop finger control and dexterity. The use of a story and a song to teach children to tie a bow is quite clever. The illustrations are colorful and draws you into the story. This book will be useful for kids who are ready and eager to learn to tie bows.”-Belle Brown, Goodreads
