About Maureen McGowan:
Maureen has always been making up stories–her mother called it lying, her teachers creative talent–but sidetracked by a persistent practical side, it took her a few years to see the light and channel her energy into writing novels. After pummeling her sensible side into submission, she quit her career in finance and hasn’t looked back.

Aside from books and writing, she’s passionate about art, dance, films, fine handcrafted objects and shoes. Maureen (and her shoes) go to a lot of movies in Toronto, Canada.

Robert Parry, author of The Arrow Chest, Is On Tour February 2011

This post was most recently updated on January 22nd, 2012

Description of The Arrow Chest:

Publisher: CreateSpace (January, 2011)
Paperback: 342 Pages

London, 1876. The painter Amos Roselli is in love with his life-long friend and model, the beautiful Daphne – and she with him – until one day she is discovered by another man, a powerful and wealthy industrialist. What will happen when Daphne realises she has sacrificed her happiness to a loveless marriage? What will happen when the artist realises he has lost his most cherished source of inspiration? And how will they negotiate the ever-increasing frequency of strange and bizarre events that seem to be driving them inexorably towards self-destruction. Here, amid the extravagant Neo-Gothic culture of Victorian England, the iconic poem ‘The Lady of Shalott’ blends with mysterious and ghostly glimpses of Tudor history. Romantic, atmospheric and deeply dark.

“‘A joy to read … haunting, captivating and beautifully written…you just can’t put down” – Claire Ridgway, Tudor Book Reviews
