Description Feast by David Vorhees

A collection of short stories that take place on different holidays over the course of the year. The collection opens with “A New Year, a New Day, a New Life.” Grant Curtis is arrested on New Year’s Day and charged with the murder of his wife Carla. In “Easter: The Resurrection,” a resurrected Kyle Gardner seeks vengeance on Pastor Brian.

“The Vengeance of Cassidy Clay” is a narrative poem that takes place on Halloween. The poem tells the story of a slave-hunter who haunts the woods long after his death and many more spine chilling tales.

Praise for Feast by David Vorhees

“Vorhees does a nice job of keeping a “theme” throughout (even as the stories change from tale to tale. This felt like one cohesive set of stories instead of a bunch of random ones thrown into a book.
The character building and storytelling were good and I thought that Vorhees was able to write short stories that felt realistic and new while also feeling “familiar”. What I mean by this is that they still feel like original stories but they don’t feel like brand new ideas. Just like some of the best horror films play on the same topics and plots – these stories benefit from good horror tropes.
If you’re a horror fan and a fan of horror short stories there’s bound to be something in this collection that’ll suit you. I enjoyed it from beginning to end and I’m glad that I had a chance to check it out.”-Brian’s Book Blog

“Most of the tales are deeply disturbing and be warned: you won’t be able to unsee them. This is a nod to the effectiveness of the author’s storytelling ability and gift for description.”-Kristine, Hall Ways Blog

“I thought each story was unique; I like the author’s writing style. I would recommend this to readers of dark fiction, if you like a little gore with your horror, and a realism that makes it stick with you after you are done. I could see giving this as a gift.”- Sarah, Quackzombie

“Mind-bending and wildly entertaining! I was hooked after the first story, and it just got better after that. The themed horror stories for each separate holiday was a new concept for me, making each story that much more riveting. The characters and scenes are well thought out and eerily relatable, which allows you to become immersed in the story. This collection of stories is a definite must read!”-Lyn Savage, Amazon

The Runaways of Missing Lake

Description Runaways Of Missing Lake by Tanya Fyfe

Luke Houser and his friends enter their junior year at Missing Lake High School under extremely unusual circumstances after a tremendous forest fire kept the community on edge for months. The memory of the fire permeates all aspects of everyone’s lives, including those of the incredible secret dragon family who live up north. Luke makes a new canine friend through his step-mom’s veterinary clinic and Chase plays an important role despite not being one of the family’s beloved sled dogs.

The silver dragon, Zagros has some serious news for his young Dragoneer that will impact the entire dragon realm, particularly the young dragons, Helios and Cassiel. Luke has to process this information all while a crisis unfolds during English class. Luke has to make some serious choices that challenge the sometimes awkward sixteen-year-old but he cannot share them with anyone without risking the discovery of the magnificent dragons.

This is the fourth book in the Missing Lake series that follows a reluctantly intrepid young man’s journey into adulthood with his family, friends, dogs, cats and dragons by his side.

Praise Secrets Abound Missing Lake by Tanya Fyfe

“Winner of the Distinguished Favorite for Teens”- NYC Big Book Awards and the Independent Book Awards in 2018

“I so enjoy this series. With his anxieties about school, his love for his family’s sled dogs, and his adventures helping his stepmother in her veterinary clinic, Luke Houser is a very believable teenager in the mountainous wilds of Montana. Most of his problems are perfectly normal for a boy in his circumstances.
So his involvement with the local dragons feels totally natural.
The antics of the baby dragons once they hatch, especially the golden boy dragon, Helios (who is all boy too) are just as realistic feeling as those of Luke’s school friends. You get the feeling that dragons could be just as real as broken marriages and sick dogs. And you wonder how the dragons and dragoneers ever got by without good veterinary support for all these hundreds of years. No wonder they’re nearly extinct!”-Lora of Ettria

“While the third book in the series, I didn’t have a problem reading it without having read the previous two.  I enjoyed Luke’s interactions with the dragons and all they go through.  I was invested in these characters and what happened.  I found Luke and his family to be realistic as were all the problems (outside of the dragons) that he was having.  It is a clean book, which I love, and is just good.  I would let my young teens on up read this, I think they would enjoy it!”-Ashley’s Bookshelf

“The descriptions of North Dakota, Montana, and Vancouver are well written and help the reader sink into the story.  The characters and dialogue keep the pace going and makes for a book that is hard to put down. The ‘Secrets Abound Missing Lake’ is a memorable book that I plan to share with my grandchildren when they are a little older.  I also plan to read the first two books in the series and can hardly wait for book 4.  This book is a must read for those who like coming of age stories and dragons.  Actually animal lovers would love it as well.”-Sal, Bound 4 Escape

She completed her BSc and then got accepted into veterinary school in Saskatchewan which she graduated from in 2005. Since then she has worked as a veterinarian in ND and Montana.

They share their world with 5 adorable cats, several horses and 3 ridiculously personable ferrets.

When your only path to survival is to die..

Praise for Avery Jenkins

“A Taoist Jack Reacher”-Beta Reader

“This is a fine and lively read. The perfect way to get my mind off the damn pandemic. I read it in 2 glorious evenings. Tightly written. Fast-moving. Well-drawn, interesting and multi-dimensional characters. All the action and escapism I have come to expect from a Tom Clancy or Lee Child novel, but far more interesting, and much more spiritually satisfying. The author kept teaching me things as he entertained the hell out of me. I hope he’s busy writing the next book in the series now, because I’m hooked.”-Bob Corlett, Amazon

“This book is incredible. There were twists and turns constantly; I couldn’t put it down! I can’t recommend it highly enough for a non stop story lockdown page turner.”-Lina Holopainen, Goodreads

Description Tsars Locket by Ken Czech

When Duty, Honor, and Love Collide

Julian Blunt, a former sea captain and a despised Catholic, is stunned when Queen Elizabeth proposes that he help carry a betrothal locket to Tsar Ivan the Terrible in Moscow. It means an alliance between England and Russia is brewing, and the queen warns that should the locket fall into the hands of the Pope or his minions, it could mean war.

Julian joins the queen’s messenger, the lofty and spirited Jessandra Calcross, in a perilous voyage across the Baltic Sea and into the very heart of Russia. When a papal assassin determined to prevent the royal marriage strikes, Jess turns to Julian as the only man she can trust. Although at odds over religion and station, a slender emotional bond grows. Stalked by the relentless murderer, Julian is soon torn between abandoning his mission so he can better safeguard Jess, and fulfilling his vow to the queen. If he fails the queen he’ll never captain a ship again. But if he and Jess continue on to Moscow, they face a darker peril in the mercurial and sinister Tsar Ivan–a peril that will drive courage and dawning love to the breaking point.

Praise Tsars Locket by Ken Czech

“The vivid descriptions of the European cities, including Moscow and the Tsar’s palace, transport us to that era. An exciting and informative novel. Highly recommended.”–Waheed Rabbani, Historical Novel Society

“There were twists and turns throughout, but the climactic twist at the end really caught me off guard. If you love a really good story with action, suspense and romance, then I recommend this novel.” —Lesley Jones for Reades’ Favorite

“The historical backdrop to the tale is … fleshed out with gorgeous details and cinematic style descriptive work, enabling author Ken Czech to show off some real knowledge and a true sense of atmosphere about the period. Add to this the real excitement of a perilous journey across the sea, well-developed villains, a political versus religious thematic arc and some authentic yet accessible dialogue, and you have a truly excellent novel that readers will simply devour.” —K. C. Finn, author of the Caecilius Rex series

“I enjoyed the setting, the play-by-play of action, and the chemistry between Jess and Julian was off the charts. This is an astonishing story that had me hooked from the beginning …” —Rabia Tanveer for Readers’ Favorite
